Freud is an Austrian-German crime television series re-imagining the life of a young Sigmund Freud. 8 episodes have been produced, with the first series airing first on ORF beginning 15 March 2020 and being released on Netflix on 23 March 2020.While investigating several disappearances and murders in Vienna,
young Sigmund Freud and a psychic medium become entangled in an occult
conspiracy.
Freud depicts a young Sigmund Freud (Robert Finster) solving various mysteries in 1886 Vienna, assisted by medium Fleur Salomé (Ella Rumpf) and policeman Alfred Kiss (Georg Friedrich).
Filming took place entirely in Prague, Czech Republic.[2] The production consulted with Vienna-based psychoanalyst and hypnotherapist Juan José Rios.Over 400,000 viewers tuned in when the show premiered on the Austrian channel ORF in early March 2020The first season of Freud holds a 50% rating at critical aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.[5] Writing for The Guardian, Adrian Horton likened Freud to "other absurd revisions of famous stories" like Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.[6] The Daily Beast
writer Nick Schager made the same comparison, writing that the series'
"marrying truth with paranormal nonsense proves reasonably enlivening.Freud has been nominated for two Romy Awards, in the categories of "Best TV Series" and "Best Production, TV Fiction"
